She was asked to fight,
but I was taught that
girls don’t pick swords.
Despite of the heaviness it felt,
she picked it.
Her hands bled, yet she fought.
For years she stood at the front line,
With no shield behind her.
her body ached.
She cried for help
And stood up again
Friends came and went
Some stayed long enough
to hold her hand,
Some stayed long enough
to help her keep fighting.
She learnt to carry
what was never hers to carry
Gradually it became
not a fight anymore but survival
Every night she returned
from battlefield into pieces
Yet every morning
she woke up to resume the fight.
Towards the end
it was really hard to get up
The pain of the wound was unbearable
The promise of
the end of war kept her awake
War was about to get over,
Little did she know
The after battle was yet to start…
