Dear Tomorrow,
I have spent years
waiting for you
as if you were
a destination
rather than a decision.
I have blamed yesterday
for my fears
and today for my excuses.
Everytime I promised
I would start,
I folded the promise
into another unsent letter
and carried it
in my pocket
every single day.
Do you know
what frightens me the most?
It isn’t failure anymore.
It is about reaching you
with empty hands,
carrying nothing
but the weight of
“I should have?”
So today,
I am writing to tell,
you something which,
I should have done,
a long time ago:
Stop waiting for me!
I’ll meet you halfway,
and this is for sure.
But if I delay or fail,
let my footprints remind me,
beginning is better than perfection.
If I succeed,
let me stay humble enough
to remember-
the person who was once doubtful,
finally chose to begin.
When we finally face each other,
don’t recognise me by my regrets.
Remember me by my courage.
Until then
