The thing called ‘LOVE’

I don’t know what love is …

Perhaps it is one of the most fascinating and perilous concepts of mankind. Numerous poems, philosophies, essays, stories, and whatnot are devoted to this enchanting emotion. Still, the façade of love continues to haunt the human psyche like an agonizing thirst of the parched.

But if someone asks “What is love?” Would you be able to answer the level of satisfaction of the recipient? Would you be able to comprehend the profoundness of that phenomenon? Love is better not to be comprehensible. There is innate beauty about just feeling it. In small yet heartfelt moments.

But the tragedy is most of us don’t even get its real essence. What we do get is the transactional nature of the society. What we get is the rigid structures of relations constructed by civilizations to keep their wheels moving. The politics, the absurd pragmatism, the market, and its business which treats people as a commodity. The quintessence of love is so intertwined with the matters of society that we misunderstand the practical arrangements of association with love. But the practical outlook of love is the ultimate misery of human existence. I cannot fathom the fact millions of people get their hearts broken every day owing to the malicious circumstances of life.

But still, there is love beyond all these circumstantial nonsensical worlds. Love. How can I do the dreadful task of putting it into words?

Love is treacherous. Love is outrageous. Love is the epitome of partiality and rightfully so. The magnanimity of the emotion that’ll make you scream at the top of your lungs “ That person is special to me and the rest of all can go to hell.” Love is having the audacity to pick up a fight against the world for that one person. Love is when the utmost of the sacrifice feels like a child’s play. When the toughest of the voyage seems like a dazzling day, and when all paths are shattered one still finds the way.

I wouldn’t know. Perhaps someday I will find love. And that day I’ll hold it to cherish it forever. Until then …

I don’t know what love is …
