THE 3 MUSKETEERS 

We all have had or heard stories of friends connecting after years. Recently a post of a girl looking for a long lost childhood friend of hers through their class picture went viral on Instagram. And I too was reminded of how the 3 of us found each other after having gone in different directions 25 years ago.

I realized the existence of a typology of friendship- ones who talk everyday, ones who talk to share their sadness or happiness and ones who are just there, somewhere!! I guess I am going to talk about the last one….

The 3 of us are not the kinds catching up/ meeting/ talking every other week- 2 within the same state and 1 sitting miles away in a different continent altogether…I guess we have outgrown that phase of our lives to talk to stay “connected”. Sometimes, months pass by and we don’t even hear each others’ voices despite the free incomings, outgoings and video calls.

But there is still something that keeps us linked- PERSISTENCE.

There is one persistent friend who supposedly has been the most aversive to social media but is the one who posts the most about his creative ventures on the Whatsapp group of the 3 of us he only created. And then there is a second persistent friend whose optimism amazes me that one day we will visit him.

I am not so sure how much we know about each others’ lives but the “one sentence reactions” that we have for each other (sometimes none at all!) reflects that we may not be the best of buddies but will be each others’ secure base!

And that’s enough to say that we shall start from where we left, whenever and wherever we meet….!!
