A Song in Quest of Light

A barren land. Long high voltage transmission wires towers. Zoom in.

We see a man carrying backpack walking from nowhere to nowhere. Strings resonate. Vocals emerge.

We see a mother collecting belongings of her deceased son from his school cabinet. She hugs his shirt. She sees a photo of her, him and the man who is walking from no where to nowhere.

A question echoes through breathtaking landscape laden with sea waves, mountains. Heard through lens of a bus window. Zoom out.

Dealing with his social anxieties, the man still walks. Dealing with numbness of her lost world, the woman still seeks closure. He holds a card “Repair Almost Anything” in midst of a freeway. Mends a car and gets some cash in lieu of his expertise. He holds the card again but now with a smudged face. Song of a man who lost everything. Song of a woman who lost everyone. Two bodies suffering separately. Two souls suffering together….

And then comes the moment that halts time.

We see him praying in midst of an open desert with camera side walking along fence. The Supreme Angel of singing, lends her surreal melody to the moment. My nerves fumble. I breakdown. Agony of a lifetime flush through my eyes. All the wounds are bleeding towards healing. A humble angst that lead to peace.

उजड़े से लम्हों को आस तेरी
ज़ख़्मी दिलों को है प्यास तेरी
हर धड़कन को तलाश तेरी
तेरा मिलता नहीं है पता..

खाली आँखें खुद से सवाल करे
अमनों की चीख बेहाल करे
बहता लहू फ़रियाद करे
तेरा मिटता चला है निशाँ..

रूह जम सी गयी
वक़्त थम सा गया

टूटे ख़्वाबों के मंजर पे
तेरा जहाँ चल दिया..

नूर-ए-खुदा, नूर-ए-खुदा..
तू कहाँ छुपा है हमें ये बता

We see him hallucinating her. We see her hallucinating him. Life goes on. The reel moves on.
