Tell me Mother!
did you choose this life
or were you lured into it,
why did you bring me along.
What are the sins you seek to redeem,
when I hear your plea.
Of the punishments I take, bestowed upon me
Why do you not look me in the face,
does it remind you of your youth
before you were marred with gashes
Blades in hand of some white knuckled hairy guy,
Old and tired.
skinny he looks,
like some starved hyena you fed your flesh to.
Tell me Mother!
why are you so quite
For i have watched you being loud and unabashed
Pretended to not know the price you pay each time .
I have had dreams, heard you laugh,
seen you dance in your own called ball.
And there you were waking me up
with your subdued face and purple hands,
in the clothes you wear too long for your body
To obstruct the bite marks of the snake you have once saved.
Tell me mother
how far is the home you long for,
fly like a night light near my cage,
open it and I will bring you a piece of it.
Tell me Mother!
does it hurt to be that weak,
to choose love and to be robbed of oneself
when the world chants the hymn of goddesses,
how do you whiplash yourself
for numbness on the nights you have felt the most.
Tell me Mother!
what keeps you awake at night,
the terror you feel inside
when you hear the fiery deep breaths near your ear
or the scream you hold back, dead bolt in your throat.
“How did you let this happen?”,
my restless began with the questions and unknown dead ends.
Will I get an end, or the end will take you away,
Before you leave, sing me the lullaby;
for my mind is filled,
with cries of a deer who has fallen prey and
when the skin is open letting,
one knows the depth of fear.
Tell me Mother!
I am who you should have been
or I am who you are to be…
