The Quest of Clouds and a (semi) Answered Prayer

It was 5 o’clock in the morning. It is not every morning that I and my wife go for an 8 hour long drive. It’s irrelevant why that fine morning we set ourselves for that adventure. But what is relevant is that we heard a creaking sound and faced a blow of hot air on our face when I switched on the Air Conditioner as we started. The Air Conditioner was gone.

You did get the AC serviced. Right?” My wife asked.
I did…did not.” I said sheepishly.

There was silence. A long silence! Usually these kinds of silences are more dangerous than the yells.

It was still fresh and bearable. But I wondered for how long can days in May be deemed cool and pleasant in a car without an Air Conditioner? I thought of checking the weather forecast on my phone but I refrained from doing so. Anyway in a couple of hours the Sun shall be set to assure her silence becomes more dangerous. In the mid of May I started praying to god for cloudy weather.

And boy the prayer was answered! As we moved forward, around 7 AM we saw some dark clouds. Voila!! Does god listen to your prayers so soon? It didn’t happen when I was looking for a job.

I could understand the look on my wife’s face which said “you are lucky”.
Clouds were there for an hour and by then it was time for sun to be at its full glory. In a split of second there was again a small cloud covering the sun! I was surprised how this could happen. I marveled how I was so carefully taken care by the forces above.

However, within an hour, the cloudlet was gone. We still had three hours journey left and I kept looking for miracles to happen. But nothing happened this time. I guess Lord got busy listening to other prayers! The sun was at its glorious best.

Those last three hours were tough. Not for me. For my wife! She lost her patience several times to remind me how careless I have been after we got married and read out usual charge sheet she has against me. But I was comfortable. I was happy. I was happy because at least god had made an effort for me! He listened to me.

I also realized technology has severe impacts on our faith in god. Had I looked at weather forecast before the journey, I might not have credited god for that small cloudlet. The assurance of clouds through the forecast would have been rather a business as usual for me.

But the uncertainty due to absence of information made me pray. I also realized even though I wanted miracles to happen, I have to carry on. The hope that god may help me helped me in completing journey.
Probably it is this hope that we all strive for when we believe in God.
